Bang AI Privacy Policy
Effective October 6, 2026 · Last updated October 13, 2026
Friday Lunch, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) makes Bang AI, the iPhone app that edits the videos you record, and the Bang AI plugin in ChatGPT, and runs this website. We are the controller of your personal information for Bang AI. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it.
The short version
- We use your footage only to make your videos and run your account; we also use your answers to understand who uses Bang AI.
- We don’t sell your information or show ads, and we don’t use your phone’s advertising identifier. Appstack tells ad platforms which of our ads brought you (see “Ad measurement”).
- We don’t use your footage to train AI models.
- Delete Account in the app deletes your account and everything in it, except the usage record already sent to PostHog (see “Deleting your account”).
Information you give us
- Your account. You sign in with Apple. We keep the identifier Apple gives us for your account, your first name if Apple shares it, and the email address Apple shares, which may be a private relay address. We use your email only for support; it is never shown in the app.
- Your onboarding answers. How long you’ve made UGC, where you make it, how many videos you make a week, what your content earns you each month now and what you want it to earn, your age range, your gender and where you heard about Bang AI. We use your age range and gender to write scripts in your voice, and all your answers to tailor the app and understand who uses Bang AI. Prefer not to say is always an option for gender.
- A referral code, if you enter one, so we know who sent you.
- Payout details, if you earn with Bang AI. Affiliates are paid through Stripe Connect. You give your bank and identity details to Stripe, which holds them; we keep only the Stripe account it makes for you, whether payouts are set up, and what you earned and were paid.
- Your footage. The takes you record or pick from Photos or Files: a 720p working copy, its audio and a poster frame are uploaded to our servers so they can be edited, and the full-quality original stays in the app on your iPhone. Takes added to early test versions of the app also had their original uploaded.
- What we make from your footage: transcripts with word timings, still frames, one-line descriptions of those frames when you turn on visual search, and search data built from your transcripts and descriptions.
- Overlays: images you upload, and images you ask Bang AI to draw from your words, with a name and description we write for each.
- Reference videos you choose for “Edit like this video.” We upload only samples of the video (its audio, frames and a poster), measure its pacing, then delete the audio and frames and keep the name, poster and what we measured.
- Scripts: the product details you enter, the scripts Bang AI writes and their scores. We don’t keep the instructions you type to rewrite or remix a script.
- Edits and projects: your edits, recent versions of them (up to 30 days or the newest 20), caption styles, project names and tags.
- Support messages you send us, and the account ID you share from Settings so we can find your account.
- Feedback notes you send from the web app, the Mac app or a test version of the iPhone app: what you write, any screenshot or picture you attach, the app’s version, your browser, phone or Mac model, and the video and moment you sent it from. They stay until you delete your account.
- Your email, if you sign up on this website, so we can send you Bang AI launch news and creator tips. We keep the address, which form you used and when. Cloudflare Turnstile checks the sign-up comes from a person first; we don’t keep your IP address with your email. To have your address deleted, email f@fridaylunch.studio.
Information collected as you use Bang AI
- Purchases and credits. Purchase and transaction identifiers, the product, dates, whether a purchase was refunded, and a ledger of the credits your subscription and any credit packs you buy give you and what you spent them on. We never receive your card details.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, the push token Apple gives your device, so we can tell you when an edit is ready, your credits refill, you earn, or your footage is about to be deleted after your subscription ends, through Apple’s push notification service.
- AI usage. For each AI task, which feature ran, which model, how much it used, what it cost us, how long it took and whether it worked. Safety checks are recorded as category codes, never your words.
- Technical information. Our servers see your IP address and request details, which we use to limit abuse, keep the service secure and diagnose errors.
- Remote settings. The app may fetch settings from Statsig that turn features on or off, using your account ID and an identifier made on your phone.
- Ad measurement. Appstack’s software in the iPhone app tells us which of our ads, if any, brought you to Bang AI. It receives your device and network details (including your IP address, device model, operating system, language and time zone), Apple’s identifier for this app on your device, your account ID while you’re signed in, the install and your sign-up, the transaction identifiers of your App Store purchases, and the token Apple Ads gives the app to say whether one of its ads led to the install. Superwall also sends Appstack your purchases and subscription renewals. Appstack matches the install to an ad click and reports the install, sign-up and purchases to the ad platforms we advertise on, such as Meta, TikTok and Apple Ads, so they learn which ads work. Deleting your account asks Appstack to delete what it holds about you; conversions already reported to ad platforms stay under their own terms.
- The paywall. Superwall’s software in the app receives your account ID, purchases, device model, language and region, and Apple’s identifier for this app on your device, to show the paywall, check your subscription and report on purchases.
The app sends PostHog a record of how it’s used: the screens you open, the key steps you take (such as signing in, your onboarding answers, buying, adding footage, starting an auto edit, exporting and sharing), your device and app version, and the country and city PostHog works out from your IP address, all linked to your account ID. It never includes your videos, your words, or your name or email. The app’s own code sends no crash reports. We don’t use the advertising identifier, and we don’t ask to track you.
How Bang AI uses AI
Editing your video means sending parts of it to AI models: your audio to make a transcript, frames to describe what’s on screen and to find where a face is so captions and overlays stay clear of it, and your transcript and product details to plan cuts, mark caption words and write scripts. We find where a face is, never whose it is, and we tell the model describing frames not to identify anyone. Words you give for drawn images and scripts are checked by a safety model first.
These AI companies receive your content:
- Cloudflare (Workers AI) transcribes your audio, describes frames and finds faces in them, draws the images you ask for, helps write scripts and runs the safety checks.
- Anthropic (Claude) reads your transcripts to pick the best lines and mark caption words, and writes and judges scripts from the product details you enter.
- Google (Gemini), through Cloudflare, reads frames taken from a reference video you choose for “Edit like this video.”
- Replicate times each spoken word in your audio, so cuts land between words, and deletes the audio within an hour.
They process your content only to return the result to us. We don’t use your footage, transcripts or scripts to train AI models.
Using Bang AI in ChatGPT
You can connect your Bang AI account to ChatGPT, OpenAI’s assistant, and cut your takes with Auto Edit there. To connect, you sign in with Apple on our own page and allow ChatGPT to see your credit balance, upload the takes you pick and start Auto Edits. ChatGPT gets a key for those actions on your account. It never gets your Apple ID, your name or your email.
When you use Bang AI in ChatGPT, OpenAI receives:
- your credit balance, whether your account can use Auto Edit, and how many credits an Auto Edit uses;
- the names of your videos and edits, and the file name, size, length and last-changed date of each take you add, with a check code that lets Bang AI recognize the same file later; and
- how an Auto Edit is going and, once it’s cut, its length, how many cuts it made, how much it trimmed and links to open it in Bang AI.
Your footage doesn’t go to OpenAI. The Bang AI card in ChatGPT uploads the takes you pick straight to our servers, and we edit and keep them as this policy describes. ChatGPT doesn’t see your other videos, edits, scripts or overlays.
OpenAI’s privacy policy and your ChatGPT settings govern what ChatGPT keeps from your chats. The retention and deletion rules in this policy apply to everything Bang AI keeps, including takes you upload from ChatGPT. Deleting something in Bang AI doesn’t delete what OpenAI already received.
To disconnect, remove Bang AI in ChatGPT’s settings, and ChatGPT can no longer act on your account.
How we use information
We use your information to run Bang AI: to sign you in, store and edit your footage, write scripts, keep your library in sync, manage your subscription and credits, answer support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, keep the service secure, fix problems, understand how Bang AI is used and improve it, and meet legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with providers that help us run Bang AI, each limited to what its job needs:
- Cloudflare, which runs our servers, stores your footage, runs most AI models (Workers AI, above) and, as Turnstile, sees your browser and IP address when you sign up on this website, to check you’re a person;
- Neon, our database provider, which stores your account, library and ledger;
- Anthropic, Google and Replicate, the AI model providers above;
- OpenAI, only if you connect Bang AI to ChatGPT, which receives what “Using Bang AI in ChatGPT” lists;
- Superwall, which runs the paywall and checks your subscription (see “The paywall” above);
- Statsig, for remote settings (above);
- PostHog, which receives the app’s usage record above, so we can see which parts of Bang AI work and where people get stuck;
- Appstack, which measures which of our ads brought you, and the ad platforms it reports installs, sign-ups and purchases to (see “Ad measurement” above);
- our website host, Vercel, whose Web Analytics counts visits to this website’s pages without cookies and without keeping anything that identifies you;
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and push notifications; and
- Stripe, which processes payments if you buy on the web and holds affiliates’ payout details.
Our staff look at your account only to give support, check for abuse or run the service. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect people or the service, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the business, under protections at least as strong as this policy.
How long we keep it
- Your account and library stay until you delete them or your account.
- Takes you record or upload, the transcripts and search data made from them, and audio you add to your edits (files, the sound of other videos and voiceovers) may be deleted starting 30 days after your subscription ends. Your edits (without the deleted takes and audio), overlays, scripts and reference videos are kept until you delete them or your account.
- Drawn images you don’t save are deleted after 7 days. Reference video samples are deleted once measured. Older versions of an edit are deleted after 30 days.
- Sign-in sessions end after 180 days without use.
- Disconnecting Bang AI in ChatGPT stops ChatGPT using its key to your account. The key stops working 30 days after it was last used, or at once when you delete your account.
- The app’s usage record in PostHog is kept for up to seven years.
- An email you leave on this website stays until you ask us to delete it.
Deleting your account
Delete Account in the app’s Settings asks you to sign in with Apple again, then deletes your account, your onboarding answers, your footage and everything made from it, your overlays, reference videos, scripts, edits, your credit ledger and your AI usage records. It also ends Bang AI’s access to your Apple sign-in, ends ChatGPT’s access to your account and asks Appstack to delete what it holds about you. Files on our servers are gone within a day. The copies Bang AI keeps in the app on your iPhone are deleted; videos you saved to Photos stay on your phone. Deleting your account doesn’t delete the usage record already sent to PostHog: it stays, under an account ID that no longer leads to you, for up to seven years.
We keep a scrambled record of each subscription period and refund, without your account, so the same purchase can’t give credits twice or undo a refund. If you received a referral bonus, we also keep a scrambled record of your Apple sign-in and App Store subscription, without your account, so a new account of yours can’t get the bonus again. If you had a subscription, Creator access or a free trial, we also keep a scrambled record of your Apple sign-in, without your account, so a new account of yours gets no free trial; after a subscription, coming back with a referral code also brings you no referral bonus, and the code’s owner no new commission. Purchase records from our subscription provider that never named your account may also remain. A referral code you owned is switched off. Unspent credits are lost. If you earned as an affiliate, earnings not yet paid out are lost, payouts already made stay in our records without your account, and Stripe keeps your payout account under its own terms. Copies in backups and logs are deleted as they cycle out.
Deleting your account or the app does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions.
Your choices and rights
You can delete any take, overlay, script or edit in the app, and your whole account from Settings. To ask for a copy of your information, a correction or deletion, email f@fridaylunch.studio. We may need to confirm the request is yours, and we may keep records the law requires.
Depending on where you live, including California and other US states, you may have the right to know what we collect, get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, and not be discriminated against for asking. We don’t sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we don’t use sensitive information to infer things about you.
UK and EEA residents
If you live in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, we rely on these legal bases:
- Contract: making your videos, running your account and giving you the subscription you bought.
- Legitimate interests: securing the service, preventing fraud and abuse, fixing errors, understanding how Bang AI is used and measuring which of our ads bring people to it.
- Legal obligation: keeping billing and tax records.
- Consent: emailing you launch news and tips after you sign up on this website. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us.
You can access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our use of your information, receive a portable copy, and complain to your data protection authority, such as the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office. Your information is stored in the United States and processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. We rely on our providers’ certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension or on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum for these transfers.
Security
Your footage is stored under your account and sent over encrypted connections, and we store only a scrambled form of your sign-in session. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise yours will never be accessed without permission.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new date, and for a material change tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Questions or requests: Friday Lunch, LLC, f@fridaylunch.studio.
