Talking head videos
The AI video editor made for talking heads.
A talking head video is you, one camera, talking. To edit one with AI, upload your takes to Bang AI on the web or the Mac and press Auto Edit. It cuts the ums, long pauses and false starts by what you said, adds J and L cuts so the cuts don’t jump, punches in on some lines so one camera angle doesn’t feel static, and puts captions on.

Why talking heads take so long by hand, and what Bang AI does instead
Bang AI does
- Finds every um, pause and false start by what you said
- J and L cuts, so the sound carries across each cut
- Punch-ins, so one framing doesn’t feel static
- Captions you can click to fix any word, in the Mac app
By hand, you’d
- Scrub the whole take for every um and dead pause
- Smooth every jump cut yourself
- Zoom in on lines one by one to add movement
- Type or fix captions word by word
Who Bang AI isn’t for: it cuts by what you say, so it works best on talking-to-camera videos with clear speech. If nobody talks in your videos, it’s the wrong app, and we’d rather tell you now.
What the edit does to one framing
A budgeting tip filmed on one phone, and the cut Bang AI makes of it: the fillers, the pause and the false start go, and a punch-in lands on the line that matters.
Um, if you only change one thing about your money this year, 1.7 s uh, make it this. No, wait, let me start again. If you change one thing this year, make it this: pay yourself first.

How to set up a talking head shot
Bang AI does the cut; the shot is yours. Six things that make the footage it works with better.
- Frame from the chest upLeave a little room above your head. Punch-ins move closer on some lines, so start a touch wide.
- Light from the frontFace a window or a lamp. Light behind you turns your face into a shadow.
- Lens at eye levelProp the phone or camera so you look straight into it, not down at it.
- Keep the sound closeA clip-on mic, or the camera near you. The cut follows your words, so they need to be clear.
- One thought per takeShort takes are easy to redo, and a flubbed one can be swapped for another in the Mac app.
- Look at the lensNot at yourself on the screen. Eye contact is what makes a talking head feel like a conversation.
Questions, answered.
What’s the best AI video editor for talking head videos?
If you film yourself talking to the camera, Bang AI. It does the whole cut for you: ums, pauses and false starts out, J and L cuts, punch-ins and captions in. You only open the editor to fix something.
How do I make a talking head video less boring?
Cut the dead air and add movement. Bang AI cuts the ums and pauses, punches in on some lines and smooths each cut with J and L cuts, so one camera angle keeps moving. On Ultimate, your product shots and codes drop in where you say them.
Do I need more than one camera?
No. Bang AI is made for one camera. Punch-ins and J and L cuts give a single shot the movement a second angle would.
Can I edit videos I already filmed?
Yes. Upload takes you already filmed to Bang AI on the web or the Mac, and press Auto Edit.
What’s a punch-in?
A cut that moves closer on the same shot, as if a second camera had a tighter angle. Bang AI adds punch-ins on some lines so one framing keeps moving.
Can I film on a webcam?
Yes. Film on a phone, a webcam or a camera, then upload the takes to Bang AI on the web or the Mac.
Can the captions match my style?
Yes, on Pro: every caption style and animation, with AI emphasis and emoji, in the Mac app. The captions go on with the edit, and you can click any word to fix it.
Do I need a teleprompter?
No. Read a script or wing it, and film as many takes as you need. The iPhone app has a teleprompter too.
Should I sit or stand?
Whichever keeps your energy up. Many people talk with more energy standing; sitting is steadier for long takes. Keep the lens at eye level either way.
Is Bang AI on the App Store?
Yes. Get Bang AI on the App Store for iPhone, which films with a teleprompter that scrolls your script, with a countdown. It’s on the web and the Mac too.
Every video you don’t post is money you don’t make.
